3/16/20 - 3/20/20: This is the seventh week of the third quarter.
Tuesday, 3/17/20
Hello students and parents. I hope that you are all safe and well at home. As we all navigate through this unprecedented health crisis called COVID-19, I want to reassure you that the district and we teachers will be doing everything we can to ensure continuity of education. Although students are technically having snow days this week, I was hoping that you would visit a couple of websites that we plan to use for online instruction. First and foremost, I will continue to update this web-page often.
To begin with, the district plans to use an online learning platform called Canvas. Canvas is a central location where students can access posted assignments from all of their teachers. On Canvas, teachers can post lessons, assignments, and links to the many different websites that we use. The school district will be emailing all of us when it is ready to go. This should be very soon. In the meantime, you might want to google it, just to learn a little about it. From what I understand, it is very easy to use.
Some specific sites that we will be using (to begin with) for AIS ELA are as follows:
1. NewsELA: This is a wonderful site for reading comprehension and writing practice. If you could visit the site and create a student account, that would be wonderful. The link to the site is: https://newsela.com/
2. CommonLit: This is another great site for reading and writing practice. Please create an account for this site as well. The link to the site is: www.commonlit.org/en/enroll
Please try to stay safe, embrace your families, and remain Floyd Strong!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Marrs
